Adolescent Problems

Adolescence period is a developmental phase which begins transition from childhood to adulthood. During this period, children are beginning to form their identity and developing inter-personal roles that they will assume as adults. Parents should take care of their children during adolescence period and treat them as young adults.

Adolescence period is generally considered as the age of 12 to 18 years. This age is started by changes in glands of internal secretion not only in the sex glands but other glands also which it is a period of fast growth and development. They usually have feelings of independence, identity, sexuality, and relationships. They feel and try to act like grown-ups and tend to be self-dependent. During this period, many physical, physiological, mental, social and emotional changes take place. Physical changes during adolescence include development of sex glands which may introduce tension and worry in adolescents. Mental problems include anxiety, stress, lack of interest for interaction with others, etc. Parents and teachers should take care for developing positive attitude in adolescents.
